Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment

 It is estimated that about thirty five percent of all women will experience bacterial vaginosis of a form, at some point. Most likely, it won’t be a single case of the disease either, due to the fact that once you have it you are more likely to have it again. Bacterial Vaginosis happens because of changes to the acid environment of a woman’s vagina. It occurs, most often when women use douches, bubble baths and scented soaps; or it could be due to sexual acts of some type. When the pH level of the vagina changes during the menstral period, its been known to happen. But it can also happen for none of these reasons at all. After all, it is known as the most common form of bacterial discharge

Treat Bacterial Vaginosis

Here are some steps to treating Bacterial Vaginosis:

1-     Be sure that chronic bacterial vaginosis is indeed the right diagnosis. Symptoms may include a white, thin coating that may be present on the vaginal walls during a pelvic exam: a fishy vaginal odor; a thin to a rather thick white discharge coming from below; and a itchy or burning feeling around the genitalia. You need not necessarily have all these symptoms to have this. Truth is, some women have been diagnosed with this disease without any of these symptoms present.

2-     Figure out if you want to treat this yourself with over-the-counter drugs or if its something in need of immediate attention. Some women have been known to treat this with over the counter medicine without antibiotics. But be careful, however, the center for Disease Control recommends that all women get some sort of treatment for this because it could lead to other serious issues.

3-     Be sure to stop douching. If this is something that you do on the norm, be sure to stop. At least until you see your doctor to find out if douching may be the cause of it

4-     You may want to switch the type of birth control you take (if you use an IUD or the coil) they could be causing the problem. Your doctor should be able to help you in choosing an alternative.

5-     Stop using vaginal oils or lubricants because they may be causing the change in the pH balance

6-     Be sure to use condoms during sex. It has been discovered thru research that chronic bacterial vaginosis is more common among women who do not use condoms.

7-     Also be sure to set up an appointment with your gynecologist if you don’t or can’t live with this condition any longer. They may very well recommend a treatment of some sort to help solve the problem.

Getting Rid of Bacterial Vaginosis

The Condition when the bacteria in the vagina multiplies and creates a discharge with a bad odor is known as bacterial vaginosis. It is generally not known to be too dangerous and it doesn’t have many symptoms other than a foul odor and a grayish vaginal discharge. If you are suffering from this disease or think you may indeed have bacterial vaginosis, you may be able to take care of the problem by yourself

Here are a few steps:

1-     Take a billion of that CFU acidophilus and 800 mcg of folic acid 2 times a day

2-     Take one part distilled water and one part hydrogen peroxide and make a solution, then carry it with you into the shower. Then get an empty douche bottle to pour the mixture into and insert the bottle into the vagina. Squeeze and allow the mixture to drip into the shower

3-     Be sure to continue with the mixture of hydrogen peroxide douche every other day for about a week. If the odor or the discharge gets worse or remains the same. See a physician.

Your doctor should be able to prescribe you with some sort of antibiotic to help get rid of the bacterial vaginosis within a few days
